Resin Architecture and Crystal Builders Announce 2025 Student Design Competition Winners

Austin Crystal, Owner of Crystal Builders, awarded the Crystal Builders Scholarship to Quentin Lours (Florida A&M University) for his outstanding project “Echoes of Connection”.

Competition Challenge:
Students nationwide were tasked with proposing a creative adaptive reuse for the historic brick warehouse at 810 W. Broadway in Idaho Falls, preserving architectural integrity while introducing vibrant new commercial use.

2025 Competition Winners:

First Place
Daniel Tracey - “Idaho Falls Foundry”
University of Arkansas
Tracey’s proposal reimagines the historic warehouse as a dynamic commercial destination, thoughtfully preserving industrial character while introducing renewed civic presence.

Second Place & Crystal Builders Scholarship Winner
Quentin Lours - “Echoes of Connection”
Florida A&M University
Lours’ design centered on community engagement and experiential space, demonstrating strong research and feasible transformation. Austin Crystal selected this project for its professional and engaging presentation.

Third Place
Sanand Maddipati - “People’s Cave”
Arizona State University
Maddipati’s submission impressed with bold vision and thoughtful integration of indoor/outdoor spaces encouraging walkability.
